About the role

You will be based in the Vice Chancellor’s Office as part of a critical and supportive team working under the Chief Operating Officer (COO). 

We are recruiting two Personal Assistants, each reporting to two Directors:

  1. Director of Education and Student Services, Ian Blenkharn, and the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation, Dr Jon Hunt
  2. Director of Campus Infrastructure, Dev Biddlecombe, and Director of Sustainability and Space Management, Richard Jackson

Step into a role where your exceptional administrative skills and proactive approach will directly support senior leaders driving impact across the organisation. From managing complex diaries to preparing presentations that shine, you’ll be the cornerstone of operational efficiency for the Directors.

Core responsibilities:

  • proactively manage diaries, arrange travel, and organize meetings that inspire action
  • handle sensitive correspondence, create professional reports, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks
  • from committee administration to action tracking, your thoroughness will ensure excellence across every project
  • build relationships across the university, becoming the trusted link between stakeholders and leadership

You may be called on occasionally to support other COO team members, or to participate in organising or attending events related to the COO departmental functions.

The post involves dealing with a wide range of matters, sometimes of a highly confidential nature, on behalf of the Directors and other members of the COO senior team. 

In addition, you will develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff in the COO Department and across the University.

Interviews will take place on 15th and 16th January.

About you

You will thrive under pressure with outstanding communication, organisation, IT skills and attention to detail. You will have demonstrable experience as a PA or in senior administrative roles, ideally in higher education or a related sector. You will be adept at working with discretion, professionalism, and a knack for finding solutions where others see challenges.
