The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences is looking for a hardworking, motivated individual with good interpersonal skills to join our busy Faculty Finance team.

You will play a vital role in the operational management of our finances, including purchasing, invoice and expense processing and budget monitoring. You will work closely with staff and students within the Faculty to ensure that University controls, processes and best practice are followed throughout.

Effective and professional liaison with internal and external contacts is an integral part of the role and so a need for tact and discretion and an ability to maintain confidentiality and remain professional are essential.

As the end of the University Financial Year is 31st July, annual leave may be restricted during the last week of July and first week of August.

We currently work on a hybrid basis, working a minimum of 3 days per week on campus.

About you 

You will:

  • Have a logical and methodical approach to work and strong numeracy skills.
  • Possess strong communication skills. 
  • Be able to show a good use of initiative, work accurately.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise a high workload, working both independently and as part of a team. 

You should be AAT qualified to level 3 or have equivalent relevant experience.

We are seeking a proactive and highly professional individual to join the busy Placements team within our Faculty as Placements and Study Exchange Manager

As a team we play a vital role in researching and developing opportunities to generate new placements, in the UK and overseas, as well as maintaining positive relationships with current providers and partner institutions, ensuring that services are effective and adapt to changing circumstances.

You will take responsibility for the placements programme in several departments, ensuring services are efficient, effective and adapt to changing circumstances, developing common systems and processes standardised on best practice, and making sure that the Placements Team are supported at all times.

The role will also have responsibility for the operation of the study exchange programme in the Department of Economics, ensuring that partnerships are maintained and that student processes are clear and well-promoted. 

Further to this, the role will support the Head of Employability in finding internal synergies and the creation and development of a Faculty strategic plan for the potential further development of study exchanges.

About you 

This is a critical role, supporting the Head of Employability to deliver placements and exchanges in support of the Faculty’s commitment to undergraduate student employability. 

The following skills, experience and characteristics will be essential in this role:

  • Interpersonal and team-building skills will be vital to provide leadership and support to the team. 
  • You will need to have excellent organisational skills, demonstrate a good use of initiative and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Diplomacy, tact and cultural awareness are key to developing strong links both nationally and internationally, in order to optimise the opportunities that we can offer to our students.
